I have the
solution: a downloadable .psd, which I made.

  • 800 x 600,
    1024 x 768 and 1280 x 1024 as pre-sets, but other sizes are easy to
    drag in this layered psd document

  • Layers with
    customizable texts and favicons

  • Layer sets
    with the right-top part of the browser dragable, including the
    side-bar

  • A transparent empty viewport in the
    browser

Please feel free to use (and alter) this
copyrighted .psd file to help you present your own design to your
customers, but… you may not publish or upload the .psd or any
unflattend layers anywhere. Flatten your artwork before publishing it
please. Please send a copy of the .psd to me in order to apply for
approval before publish it anywhere.
PS: The original Windows
Internet explorer lay-out in silver settings is of course copyright
Microsoft. I presume Microsoft will be exited that designers use
their browser in a mock-up.

Voel je vrij om deze auteursrechtelijk beschermde .psd te
gebruiken en te bewerken om je ontwerp in te presenteren… je mag
echter nergens deze .psd met lagen uploaden of publiceren. Dus:
flatten je bestand voor het te publiceren graag. Zend een kopie van
een eventuele bewerkte .psd naar mij om toestemming te vragen het in
lagen te publiceren.
PS: De originele Windows Internet Explorer
lay-out in zilver is natuurlijk copyright van Microsoft. Ik neem aan
dat Microsoft er blij mee is dat we hun browser als mock-up
gebruiken.

UPDATE 2 apr 2007: Outlook 2007 mock-up in PSD

Referring to the recent outburst of IE7
instances i have a dilemma:

  • As a *hip
    designer* I have to walk on the frontiers of the society… chronic
    obligatory early adaptiveness is this disease.

  • I still
    present my artwork for websites with the perfect 1024 x 768 .psd
    mock-up files, usualy the IE6 version from the article “Sizing
    up Browsers    “. In this article from 2002 the author gives
    still good to use guidelines for canvas-sizes of your design.
    Sometimes I prefer the beautiful vectorized
    browser mock up of safari    . Especially when it comes to print a
    design high-resolution.

  • Since IE7 is expected to be the leading
    browser despite all the better other browsers, designers have to
    face the reality the clients will be curious how their design look
    in IE7

Even over de recente uitbraak van IE7: Ik heb een probleem

  • Ik moet me als *hip ontwerper*
    altijd in de voorhoede van de maatschappij begeven, een chronische
    ziekte om altijd en overal ‘early adaptor’ te zijn..

  • Meestal presenteer ik mijn
    grafische ontwerpen voor websites in een 1024 x 768 psd mock-up
    file, meestal in de IE6 versie van het artikel “Sizing
    up Browsers    “. In dit artikel uit 2002 geeft de auteur
    trouwens handige nog steeds te gebruiken richtlijnen voor
    maatvoeringen in het ontwerp. Het gaat alleen maar tot IE6.. Soms
    geef ik de voorkeur aan de gevectoriseerde vectorized
    browser mock up van safari    . Vooral als het ontwerp afgedrukt
    moet gaan worden in hoge resolutie.

  • Omdat IE7 nu voor de deur staat, en de marktleider dreigt te
    gaan worden ondanks betere andere alternatieven, moeten we als
    ontwerpers met de harde realiteit leren leven. Klanten zullen
    benieuwd zijn hoe hun ontwerp er in IE7 uit ziet.
