Om een favicon te maken - een klein plaatje van 16 x 16 pixels, zodat in de favorieten en in de URL balk van Internet explorer 7, Firefox etc een mooi icoontje komt- kan je natuurlijk klungelen via de helemaal niet slechte www.html-kit.com/e/favicon.cgi. Dit levert niet slechte favicons, maar o.a. alpha transparantie is niet ondersteund. Dit is wel belangrijk als je graag wilt dat je icoon ook op een grijze achtergrond goed anti-aliast.

In order to make a proper favicon - a 16 times 16 pixels small image to show a nice icon in the favorite's or in the URL barof Internet explorer 7, Firefox etc. - you can off cource try your thing with www.html-kit.com/e/favicon.cgi. Doesn't give bad favicons at all, but for instance alpha transparancy is not supported. In order to display properly, and anti-alias nicely on non-white backgrounds this does matter.

Er is ook een gratis (5 dollar donationware) plugin voor onder andere Photoshop om je eigen 16x16 pixel wondertje te bevorderen tot favicon.ico. Plaats het bestand in de juiste plugin-folder (bij mij C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS\Plug-Ins\File Formats) en je kan gewoon .ico kiezen bij "save as". Kijk op www.telegraphics.com.au voor de juiste versie.

Now there is a (5 dollar donationware) plugin for Photoshop in order to make your own favicon.ico from your 16x16 pixel piece of art. Drop the plugin-file in the right plugin-folder (C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS\Plug-Ins\File Formats in my case) and you are able to choose .ico in the "save as" menu. Look at www.telegraphics.com.au for the correct version.
